How they view HungerSatisfy your hunger? No way. They wrestle their hunger, they overcome their hunger for periods of time before indulging their hunger.
What is hunger anyway? Physical--need nutrition, energy, etc Craving--withdrawel from a drug. And yes, sugar is a drug. How they View FoodFood vs Drugs
Take a look at the two pictures above. Can you tell which is sugar and which is cocaine? It's time to face it. Most of what Americans eat cannot be classified as food. It's why the Standard American Diet is SAD, and why most people are digging their own graves with a fork. But trying to decide what's healthy and what isn't can be difficult. Search online for any specific food and you'll find articles claiming it to be healthy and other articles claiming it isn't. Doctors can't agree. Even nutritionist, whose very education centers on the health value of food can't agree. So how do we know? I use one simple test. Is it addictive. Seriously, when was the last time someone came to work hugging their stomach because they ate too many carrots. BBQ ribs, yes. Donuts, yes. Carrots, no. I also study shopping carts. Yes, that's right. Shopping carts. I've learned nearly as much from shopping carts than I have from reading articles and text books. It doesn't take long to notice a pattern. Unhealthy people have carts full of boxed and canned food. Healthy people have carts full of stuff you would find in a garden. A lot of us already know that. We fill our carts with healthy food, then find ourselves running to a fast food place in the middle of the week while lettuce in our fridge waits and wilts. Why? Why is it so hard to eat healthy? |
