Easier and Harder

ow much do you get paid to eat healthy? Does a donut harm your income?
We have models everywhere, and my hat off to the healthy ones for setting the bar high and showing us what sacrifice can achieve.
Sacrifice--where you give up something you want for something you want more.
When you're in front of a camera, you are going to use correct posture. You're going to avoid unhealthy foods that could cause acne and bloating. Your abs are going to get a major workout, because you literally hold in your stomach all day.
I used to think some were just born lucky. After all, I saw pictures of slim, fit people eating junk food. I also saw unhealthy, overweight people eating rabbit food.
I didn't think nutrition mattered. Then I had multiple good examples walk into my life and I began to be convinced, but found I was too weak to change my diet for long.
I didn't give myself enough credit, because I kept comparing myself to others.
Health Habits have different weight and meaning to different people. Not to mention all of us come from different starting points.
Imagine wanting to reach the top of a mountain. Some people get a helicopter ride there, complete with catered lunch. Others have to work their way there, and others have to work their way carrying a backpack full of heavy baggage. Still others are not only carrying baggage, but they are pulling a cart full of other people's baggage.
Should the one who struggles at the bottom, pulling the cart, feel like they're less impressive than the one with a helicopter ride to the top of the mountain?
That's why comparison is so lethal. Judging a person by their cover does not tell you how much personal sacrifice they made to be where they are, nor does it tell you where they will end up at the end.

Healthy People Think Differently
Therefore they act differently
Therefore they become something different

How they view HungerSatisfy your hunger? No way. They wrestle their hunger, they overcome their hunger for periods of time before indulging their hunger.
What is hunger anyway? Physical--need nutrition, energy, etc Craving--withdrawel from a drug. And yes, sugar is a drug. Embrace the hunger stop trying to end it or suppress it find a way to enjoy it Use a Variety of Fasts, diet changes, cleanses, and more Challenges Make it a social event (join in together |
How they View FoodFood vs Drugs
Take a look at the two pictures above. Can you tell which is sugar and which is cocaine? It's time to face it. Most of what Americans eat cannot be classified as food. It's why the Standard American Diet is SAD, and why most people are digging their own graves with a fork. But trying to decide what's healthy and what isn't can be difficult. Search online for any specific food and you'll find articles claiming it to be healthy and other articles claiming it isn't. Doctors can't agree. Even nutritionist, whose very education centers on the health value of food can't agree. So how do we know? I use one simple test. Is it addictive. Seriously, when was the last time someone came to work hugging their stomach because they ate too many carrots. BBQ ribs, yes. Donuts, yes. Carrots, no. I also study shopping carts. Yes, that's right. Shopping carts. I've learned nearly as much from shopping carts than I have from reading articles and text books. It doesn't take long to notice a pattern. Unhealthy people have carts full of boxed and canned food. Healthy people have carts full of stuff you would find in a garden. A lot of us already know that. We fill our carts with healthy food, then find ourselves running to a fast food place in the middle of the week while lettuce in our fridge waits and wilts. Why? Why is it so hard to eat healthy? |
